Save up for Braces!

Oh YAY!  That’s what the dentist told us today after cleaning and x-raying Bella’s teeth.  She has such a small mouth for all those big teeth that are coming in.  She actually has 4 loose teeth on the bottom, of course those were the first baby teeth to come in.  It just kills me cuz her baby teeth are so perfect and cute, I guess that’s part of growing up.  She told me today that she wants to keep the first tooth that falls out and doesn’t want to give it to the tooth fairy for money.  I thought that was too cute!

In other events…Carey is feverishly getting guitars, pickups, brochures, displays, etc. ready, working late nights for the NAMM show which starts next week.  I’ve gone the past couple of years but I’m gonna sit this year out.  It’s fun to walk around and look at all the instruments and every once in a while you get to see some famous rock star walking around…(one year I was almost pummeled by Dave Navarro and his posse, that was almost fun :)…but the sound in the Anaheim Convention Center is deafening and this year he’s up with the big boys.  So I will be at home playing with my new other love…

Can I just say that I’m having a blast playing around with this thing!  Only thing is it’s HUGE. I have this 4′ table that I use for extra room in my scrap room and it takes up more than half of the table.  I have no idea where its permanent home is gonna be.  Still getting used to the idea of being able to print up to 13×19.  I’m using it right now to complete the project challenge for the DezineGirlz this month…we are jumping on the Ali E "one little word" bandwagon and creating projects incorporating our own words for 2008.  I can’t wait to see what all those talented girls come up with!

I had a hard time coming up with my word, I really had to think about this coming year and what my goals were and what I needed to accomplish, change, try, do and finally came up with: ACHIEVE

I have many things I want to achieve this year, physically, mentally, emotionally, socially.  Having this word up on my wall for me to see every day when I come downstairs will hopefully remind me of these things i wish to achieve this year.

Oh my, just realized there’s a new Grey’s Anatomy on…gotta go McDreamy is calling!

OMG I made the Scrapbook Dimensions Magazine Dream Team!

That is my news that I’ve been dying to share since Christmas Eve when I got the call!  I was a little caught off guard by the call because they had said they were making the calls the Friday before and I didn’t get one but I really just kept on with my holiday festivities.  I was blow drying my hair when that 801 area code popped up on my cell phone and answered it and it was Cindy Wyckoff telling me that I had made the DREAM TEAM!  What an awesome Christmas present that was even though I couldn’t tell anyone.  I had a blast doing all the projects for my entry and I can’t wait to be able to share them with everyone.  There is an awesome team…including a 12 year sensation Bre Wiebe.  I’m so excited to be among so much talent and can’t wait to work with everyone.

Our Hybrid Christmas card…

Just thought I would post a picture of it here and some of the instructions for it.  It was rather simple to make, didn’t take me any longer than assembling any other kind of card would.  I was just introduced to watercolor pencils (I know, I know…where have I been) by my friend Peggy and immediately went out and bought a bunch.  I’m not really a stamper scrapper, so I don’t really think of things like watercolor pencils, they weren’t in my scrapping vocabulary…until NOW!  I found this really cute digital kit from Weeds & Wildflowers (one of my favorite places to buy digi stuff BTW) and I thought that it would be kind of cool if I printed out some of the digital elements that looked like a stamp and then colored it with the watercolor pencils.  I love how they turned out and I will be doing more of this sort of thing I think cuz it’s just so much dang FUN!

Oh and I have some fun news but I can’t share just yet so I’m going to tease you with it.  Hopefully by next week I can share 😀

Whoa…where did I go?

Things have been super duper busy lately of course with all the holiday hustle and bustle and will only keep getting busier as that big day approaches!

A few things have happened lately that are somewhat exciting I guess….Bella had her winter program at school and was a dancing cookie.  She later informed me that she does NOT want to be a cookie next year and wants to throw away her cookie costume.  At the rate and level that she’s reading right now she’ll be narrating the program next year!  She also has her first loose tooth and is so excited about it.  She wiggles it all the time and it freaks me out…that is gonna have to be Carey’s department cuz it seriously makes my stomach turn watching her tooth wiggle back and forth!

She asked me if it was at all possible if the tooth fairy could just bring toys instead of money.  I told her that the tooth fairy is NOT Santa! LOL  So there will soon be a photo and scrapbook layout I’m sure of the missing tooth.

Our annual Christmas party is this weekend so we’re preparing for that, I think Carey and I have only missed one year of doing a party in the whole 10 years we’ve been together.  FUN!  The Christmas beer in ready and waiting in the kegerator 🙂

As far as the scrapping scene…I have been a busy little bee preparing a submission for a magazine…that’s done now I’m feverishly trying to finish my Christmas cards and get them out by tomorrow!  I think I’ll make it.  I’ll post a picture of them tonight hopefully.

Ok I’ll leave you with a recent favorite candid shot of Bella, messy hair and everything but that is usually quite often! LOL

Halloween!

Bella started out wanting to be the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland.  We went to see an Alice in Wonderland play this summer and the cat was blue.  She refused to wear any face paint so really she’s not the Cheshire Cat but just a pretty blue cat, with bright blue eyeshadow! LOL  So I spent a couple of days making this costume for her. I had a hard time with the hood and getting the ears straight and I wished it was longer but oh well, It turned out cute and she was happy with it.  I tied the tail to her arm with fishing line so when she moved her arm her tail would move…that lasted all of about 30 minutes until she broke the fishing line and we had to repair it! We had a great time trick-or-treating in Jacki’s neighborhood (ours doesn’t get TOTer’s).  Bella was literally running from house to house, which she has never done in years past.

Brooming the leaves

Bella_leaves_20072

Every year since Bella was able to walk we have raked up the fallen leaves in the yard and let her play in them so of course she looks forward to that now that she’s getting older and can remember years past.  This year is no different, although somewhere along the line we’ve lost or misplaced
our rake and is now replaced by brooms.  So we "broomed" the leaves into a pile which took WAY longer to do BTW.
  Bella_leaves_200714

The leaf brooming quickly turned into scooping up leaves with the brooms and throwing them at each other.  Mostly it was Bella and Carey with me behind the camera of course.

Then she saw me and headed straight for me….

This was one of those surprise photos that you get every once in a while.  She’s not looking at the camera but you can tell she is deep in thought about something.  Definitely will be scrapping this one soon.

And would you believe….I took 96 photos of this whole leaf experience?  96, I think I’ve lost my mind!  LOL

The Last of the Pumpkin Patch :(

This is the last year that our pumpkin patch will be around.  Sadly they sold out to big business and they’ll probably put a Super Target or Walmart on the property…just what we need right?  Anyway, we took Bella yesterday and she rode a pony and pet the goats and picked out a pumpkin, got some good picks so hopefully I can scrap them soon!

And this is the Charlie Brown pumpkin that Bella so kindly rescued from her trip to the Pumpkin Patch with her school.  I asked her why she picked out that one and she said "Cuz it had this weird thing on it!" LOL

And it’s complete with a butt crack!

And finally I leave you with this years spooky "faux" gingerbread house(s).  I decided to make 2 this year.  I found the witch at Joann’s and thought it would be cute on top but the cat also thinks so.  I keep finding it on the floor!  I had all intentions to make doors and windows on this but just decided that it was fine and to move on to other things!

These are my favorite NEW things…

Sneakers

THEY are called Nike Free 5.0’s and THEY are THE most comfortably ugly shoes I’ve ever worn!  How I came by them is a bit of a story.  My dad who is a fire investigator recently did a fire in a shoe store and the owner was giving him shoes (not burned ones) so he calls us and asks what shoe size we all wear.  He comes home and gives me these things along with 2 pairs of inserts that have different numbers on them and of course I turned my nose up at them…they were ugly and they well….smelled a little like a campfire.

So I threw them in the washing machine and let them sit and air out for a couple of days and decided that yesterday I would give them a spin.  I wasn’t even sure if I was supposed to be wearing socks with them cuz they were hard to get on at first but I wore socks anyway.  I decided to look them up online and see for sure and come to find out these are $100 pair of shoes…they come with inserts that are supposed to "train" your foot to become stronger and they’re made to make you feel like you’re walking barefoot in the grass….well I have to say Nike has accomplished that with these gems!  The back of the shoe where your heel is is mesh so  your foot is not constricted at all and there are air holes all around so your feet are always breathing.

So if you’re like me and you’ve tried every single kind of shoe out there only to be disappointed…give these a spin, they may be a little expensive and even though I got mine for free I would pay the money for my next pair!  They are well worth it.  Oh and you can even go online at Nike.com and design your own…which I will definitely do next time, maybe I’ll get pink!

Oh and one more thing…this is how I feel about all this right now!  In the words of my good friend Jenny….SHOOOOOOOOOT!

Notsmiling

There will be no more mag subscriptions to CK or any of their affiliates from me, no purchasing of any of their products, books, etc. and I will NEVER submit another thing to them EVER again and I’ve pulled all of my work out of CK’s gallery.  I just really feel badly for all those who worked really hard on their HOF entries and followed the rules to a tee only to have CK break the rules for someone they REALLY wanted as HOF.  And in my humble opinion…there are WAY better scrapbookers out there than Kristina Contes…if you haven’t seen her work…see for yourself!  I can honestly say….seen that before….it’s called Ali Edwards….how is that Hall of Fame Worthy when we’ve all been force fed the same shit over and over again from CK year after year?  Apparently she has a complex for using other colors besides kraft paper, lime green, light blue, black and white and sometimes the occasional pink hue? I don’t get it…

Ok, I’m off my soapbox…tomorrow will bring…Halloween Decorating!!!!! FUN!

That “Smell”…

you know the one?  It happened the other morning.  I was lying in bed half asleep, Carey had just gotten in the shower and all of a sudden the heater comes on….ahhhhh the smell of the heater coming on for the first time in almost a year….smelling like burnt dust and whatever else is in there!   Ever since I was a kid that smell is a sign that FALL has arrived and I have grown to LOVE that smell. Bust out the  sweaters and big socks!

There is yet another sign Fall…Pumpkin Spice and Gingerbread Coffee Mate Creamers in the grocery store!!!!!  I’m addicted to those things. Jacki was over last night and looked in my fridge, I think I had like 4 flavors in there.  She then informed me that they were out of creamer and asked if I could put together a "to go" container for them for the morning! LOL  I couldn’t wait to have my coffee this morning, which reminds me I need another cup 😉

Even though the leaves have not even begun to even think of changing here in Sunny Southern California….Happy Fall Everyone!

Wow…it’s been a long time

since my last post!  Life has been busy lately.  Bella started Kindergarten and is playing tennis 3 days a week and it’s keeping us on our toes.  Been trying to fit in some scrap time here and there and time with my friends.  Speaking of friends I have to give a HUGE shout out to my best friend Jacki who just landed a teaching job, she’s excited and I’m excited for her!  She’s gonna make a great teacher.

Bella is liking school more since she’s made friends, she had kind of a hard time at first with everything and everyone being new.  Her tennis is getting better and better each time she plays…I think she’s taking after her mommy 😉

Here’s some recent photos…

And here’s me…I’m holding my first check for being published from CK Media…thought I should take a picture before I deposited it! LOL  Sorry about Chicken Little’s butt in the background (Carey built a bass for the producer of that movie and he sent us that poster signed so it’s been on the wall ever since…as soon as I start redoing my scrap room that thing is OUTTA here!)  and me desperately needing my haircut and roots done!

Ok that’s all for now!  I promise to start updating more frequently!  XO
